360º vs 180º immerse video!

Immersive video, or also called VR-video, is recorded in 360º or 180º and is usually 3-dimensional.

You can watch this with a VR headset or in a video projection dome, where you can look around freely.

But what are the essential differences and how can you use these two formats in your communication?

360º video is recorded with a camera with at least 2 lenses (front and back). We work with a professional high-resolution camera that has a total of 8 lenses (two per side and stereoscopic). This gives the sharpest and therefore the most realistic experience.

The advantage with 360º is that you can freely look in all directions. You decide.

For example, a tour of the company for future customers or staff.

The CEO leads the viewer through the company building and points out various activities in the company. By pointing he leads the viewer around in 360 º.

Advantage: Freedom of viewing and greater immersive experience.

Disadvantage: less sharpness compared to 180º video.

But if the story takes place around one point or a specific environment, and you want to direct the viewers’ attention to the right place, 180º may be the best format. Your field of view is then limited to a semicircle.

We record 180º video with a special VR stereoscopic lens with a very high-resolution camera for the best results and experience.

An example of how 180º video can be used.

An organization wants to raise awareness, or a company wants to draw attention to something and let people experience it. For example, workplace safety. It’s therefore important that the viewer remains focused on what is happening in front of them. What’s behind them is less important here, but the experience in front of them is.

Advantage: more image sharpness which makes the experience stronger.

Somewhat lower production costs.

Disadvantage: less viewing freedom.
